He moved to another country for her, and now she is doing everything she can to save his life.

I don’t think there is a human alive that doesn’t want to be loved by another human. Someone they can share their life, hopes and dreams with. Add chemistry, attraction, intellectual sparring, deep and all consuming love and you’ve got yourself a palpable hit and an amazing match. This was the match that made them and now they need a different type of match to give this story a happy ending.
Katrien Depecker from Belgium, and her partner Edmund Fox from England, met in May, 2012, on a rooftop terrace in Barcelona. The connection was apparent and their story began. They had spent a year of traveling to and from Belgium and England when Ed decided to move to Gent to start a happy and exciting future with the woman that captured his heart.
It was very clear how strongly they felt for each other. High hopes rushed through family and friends in anticipation for the next piece of positive news that would arrive.
News soon came and hopes did rush through family and friends, but these hopes are now for Eds recovery.
Ed has been diagnosed with the Epstein-Barr virus which has caused an aggressive form of cancer. He is very sick and is in urgent need of a stem cell match to survive. Alongside this he has a rare complication from which 50% of patients die within a year.
The virus is temporarily being suppressed with heavy Chemotherapy, but for Ed to have a chance of survival he needs the right stem cell donor.
Katrien is doing all she can to raise awareness so a match may be found.
“The chance of a match is barely 1 in 50,000. Without the help of a stem cell donor the love of my life is going to die. He left his life in England to be with me, now I will do everything I can to save his life. Our love is very strong and I want to be able to say to myself that I have tried everything.”
This is a plea from the heart for anyone who can raise the awareness of Ed and Katriens story and/or register as a donor. Your like/share/post or registration may be the one that leads to his survival and so every move right now is as important as another. Sometimes we feel numb to these things and the idea of separation becomes a barrier from one human to another which leads us to believe we cannot make a difference, but this is now an interactive love story. Your move may be the one that changes everything.
